I've always enjoyed helping people and I love animals. This first drew me to a career as a Veterinary Technician.
It's extremely rewarding helping the pets and seeing the difference that makes in people's lives. But it's also very hard work filled with long days, difficult cases and hard physical labour. After 10 years I knew that it was time for a change.
I have always been interested in different health care for modalities. Having suffered a back injury at 13 years old which left me with permanent damage; then dealing with joint pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis, I had tried every possible therapy over the years.
I knew something in this field would be my next career, but couldn't quite find "the one". Then one day when I walked into my acupuncturist's office limping on a sore knee but I walked out normally, I knew I had found it! I enrolled in college 5 months later and am so happy I did.
After graduating with an Acupuncture Diploma in 2016 I continued studying for another 6 months to write, and pass, the Pan Canadian Acupuncture exam. This is not a requirement to practice acupuncture in Nova Scotia, but is in many other provinces where acupuncture is under government regulation.
I am a member of the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS) where I currently serve as the Administrative Assistant.
I am also a member of the College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners of Newfoundland and Labrador (CATCMPNL).
I am honoured to have been voted Halifax’s favourite acupuncturist in 2020, 2021 and 2021
While acupuncture can help almost any condition, the main focus of my practice is helping people control chronic pain and to heal from injuries. Since practicing I've also found a love of helping anxious, stressed, burnt-out people regain their sense of balance; as well as helping women deal with hot flashes, anxiety and insomnia during menopause or perimenopause.
It's so rewarding to be able to help people manage these types of conditions that make them feel like they will never improve. If you're feeling like you're stuck living the way you are now, that nothing has worked yet so you've stopped trying, I look forward to helping you move past this and get back to feeling like yourself again.
